چکیده

Exposure of wheat (Triticum durum L.) to NaCl (100 and 200 mM) showed that this variety is moderately halo tolerant. Germination rates in the absence and presence of salt (100 and 200 mM) are respectively 98.3, 83.3 and 53.3%. The supply of Salsola vermiculata and the combination between this halophyte and Streptomyces sp. SF5 affected germination significantly. Germination rates in the absence and presence of 100 and 200 mM of NaCl are respectively 86.65, 55, 48.3% (Salsola alone), 66.65, 53.3 and 36.65% (Salsola+ Streptomyces sp). The lengths of roots and steams are also inhibited by salinity. Roots and steams lengths are reduced by factors of 2.12 and 5.51 at 100 mM, the reduction is more pronounced at 200 mM, reduction factors are respectively 5.96 and 10.89. Streptomyces sp.SF5 appears very efficient in improving germination rates, they are respectively 85 and 68.3% (100 and 200 mM) compared to the controls. The improvement factors of the lengths of roots and steams are respectively 1.10, 1.17, 1.81, 1.02, 1.11 and 2.29.

Effect of drought stress on MYB gene expression and osmotic regulator levels of five durum wheat genotypes (Triticum turgidum L.)

Plant growth is greatly influenced by environmental stresses including water deficit, salinity and extreme temperatures. Therefore, the identification of genes, especially regulatory ones whose expression enables plants to adapt to or to tolerate these abiotic stresses, is very essential. MYB proteins, a superfamily of transcription factors, play regulatory roles in developmental processes and ...

A screening method to identify genetic variation in root growth response to a salinity gradient.

Salinity as well as drought are increasing problems in agriculture. Durum wheat (Triticum turgidum L. ssp. durum Desf.) is relatively salt sensitive compared with bread wheat (Triticum aestivum L.), and yields poorly on saline soil. Field studies indicate that roots of durum wheat do not proliferate as extensively as bread wheat in saline soil. In order to look for genetic diversity in root gro...

Effect of salicylic acid on photosynthetic pigments, enzyme activity and yield of durum wheat (Triticum durum L.) under drought stress conditions

In order to investigate the effect of salicylic acid on photosynthetic pigments, enzyme activity and yield of durum wheat cultivars under drought stress, a greenhouse experiment was conducted as factorial based on complete randomized design with 3 replicates. Treatments included of drought stress in two levels of normal irrigation and drought stress at the beginning of the milking stage, and sa...

Evaluation of some physiological and biochemical characteristics of bread wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) genotypes under salinity stress

Since about 20% of the world's arable land and 50% of productions in the world are subject to salinity stress, it affects all stages of plant life from germination to seed production. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of salinity stress on physiological and biochemical characteristics of some wheat cultivars. For this purpose, a factorial experiment was conducted in a complete...
